Video Window Does not render

Hello Everyone,

I just bought an Oak-D Lite. I have a raspberry Pi 4B with 8 GB RAM running Linux Raspberry PI 6.1.21.v8+. I downloaded all packages that are required to run examples from the luxonis installation guide. When I run the example rgbmobilnet.py there are no errors but a window does not get generated either. If i run the rgb_mobilenet_4K a window does pop up but it i black. Most of the demo scripts that I have tried do not create errors but a video window does not get created either. Any ideas?

Seems like an opencv issue. Could you test the installation using:
python3 -c "import cv2; import numpy as np; blank_image = np.zeros((500,500,3), np.uint8); cv2.imshow('s', blank_image); cv2.waitKey(0)"

That worked! I am also in the middle of running the following command from luxonis API guide:

Note that if the video streaming window does not appear consider running the following:

$$
python3 -m pip install opencv-python --force-reinstall --no-cache-dir
$$

Is this part supposed to run for a long time…"Building Wheel for opencv=python (pyproject.toml)…"

Also trying to run rgb_preview.py still does not render a video window like the code that you shared with me did.

Yes, it's supposed to ignore the cached wheels. Have you considered maybe updating the setuptools and wheel libraries for python? Or using a different opencv version?

I have updated the setuptools. How do i update the wheel libraries? what. version of opencv do you recommend?

Update/reinstall the wheel python package. python3 -m pip install wheel==0.40.0.
OpenCV version should be >4.7.0 (docs). Try reinstalling with --no-cache-dir again.

Hi Jaka,

So i decided to use the KS_RPiOS_FullV2.zip RP Raspberry PI OS image. I used the instructions to flash my 32gb Micro SD Card for the Raspberry PI. Now when I try to run the rgb_preview.py python program within Thonny the video window does not come up but there is a warning message stating 'Device contains calibration data of version 143 7204487 which is not supported in this version of depthai'. I assume I needs to update my version of depthai?

Also, do you think 32gb is enough for this image and updates. After the image is deployed i only have 4GB free. I am applying necessary updates but it seems to hang, I may be running out of space. I have seen mixed reviews, what is the largest capacity you can use for a microSD card for the Raspberry PI 4B?

The full image is not needed. Latest OAK-CM4-POE image is probably what you should be using and it's also about 10 times smaller that OS_Full.

Hi Jaka,

i installed the OAK-CM4_POE image. I am still getting the message, 'Device Contains calibration data of version 1437204487 which is not supported in this version of depthai.' Any ideas how to deal with this issue. Not alot on google when I search for it.

I am able to get the depthai_demo.py program to work when I choose model source of left or right to work but color does not seem to work. The face detection worked for the left and right cameras but not color. Also this tool said the same thing about the calibration data and it said…loading default oak d calibration data.

Hi BrianHouse ,
Could you share the full terminal output? It might be you have a very old camera, which has old calibration. If you want to use all the features, you'd unfortunately need to recalibrate the device: https://docs.luxonis.com/projects/hardware/en/latest/pages/guides/calibration.html

Hi Erik,

I just bought this camera this week, is it possible i still got an old model? Yes, I want to use all the features, that is why I bought the camera. I will try the recalibration. I am new to this device, hopefully I want make it worse.

The terminal output you get when running the demo (the one that prints the 'Device Contains calibration data of version 1437204487 which is not supported in this version of depthai' error) should be fine atm.
