@"AlessandroB"#p31119 You can use oakctl when the new OS goes public (1.18+). `oakctl device update` to update to latest release. Then you can do `oakctl app exec -i /bin/bash` to attach. **Keep in mind that the update to 1.18+ will lock the SSH so if you use it now, you will have to redo the setup or manually re-enable it.** Thanks, Jaka

Hi @"jakaskerl"#1112 , I get the same error also after updating to 1.14.1. Just as a note: the OAK device is connected to my PC that shares with the camera its wireless internet connection. As I've already said, from the device terminal I can ping external websites, deb.debian.org included. Thanks

I modified /etc/resolv.conf (please find the file screenshot in attachment). I have to modify it any time I power up the system, I guess that it is part of the filesystem image. Thanks! I succeeded in building and installing a few apps. It was a DNS problem, as you suggested.

There is still one issue. When I enable an app, that correctly starts at reboot (I can see it from the logs), nonetheless I can't get the streams on the DepthAI Visualizer (it keeps on awaiting), but, if I stop and restart the container, the streams appear.

Do you have any ideas?

Something strange happens.

Although I enabled the app 046166b3-374c-4769-acc4-a273c0f1e706, when I reboot the device I get both that app and the default one in an unknown status (first image).

In the fourth image you have the logs.

When I start the app with oakctl app start container_id, I get the first bunch of logs and the viever as in the second image.

If I stop and restart the app, eventually I get the stream.

I don't know what happened, yesterday I didn't get the unknown status at the startup, nonetheless I experienced a similar behavior: I had to stop and restart the app to get the video stream.

Now I have two issues: the lack of the video stream at the first start and the unknown app status after the reboot.

The update solved the app management issue, the status now works as expected and the behavior seems to be consistent.

The default app works as expected also after a reboot, while the human-estimation-pose app needs to be stopped and restarted in order to get a valid stream on the webapp, although the logs are identical in both cases. I guess this is due to how the apps are implemented.

Have you experienced this behavior (I compiled the app that I found in your repo)?

Where can I find the code of the Default app, so that I can use it as a reference for further developments?

OAK viewer source code is not public for now, so I recommend going through other oak examples. You can use luxonis/oak-examplesblob/main/apps/default-app as an example of a simple app that uses the default app base image and has no custom frontend. Or, for a more complex example with a completely custom frontend, see luxonis/oak-examplesblob/main/custom-frontend/dynamic-yolo-world

I am having the same issue building/running apps using oakctl app run. It will start to build but can't resolve deb.debian.org. It keeps coming up with the Ign's then "temporarily failure resolving 'deb.debian.org'". When I initially did the setup for ssh I didn't select the option to install the default app so I tried pulling the Git repo to my computer, changing directories to a specific app directory, then ran "oakctl app run ." and it gave me those errors. I SSH'd into the camera and was able to ping deb.debian.org and verified that /etc/resolv.conf contained namespace servers but there were no apps or containers showing on the camera. I did a docker pull to grab the latest Luxonis base image, started a container running it, then docker exec'd into the container and the /etc/resolv.conf file was the same as in the camera OS. I tried running apt update and apt-get install -y dnsutils and the camera crashed and shut down each time so that I had to power cycle it to get it back up. I did a factory reset and ran the setup page again, this time having it install the default app and I can now see an app with oakctl app list but I don't see it listed under docker when I ssh into the camera and run "docker ps -a". Running "apt update" or "apt-get install -y dnsutils" within the app container through "oakctl app exec" doesn't crash the camera but it still has the same issue reaching deb.debian.org. There isn't an /etc/resolv.conf file in the app container. I see where the issue in this thread was mentioned as a DNS issue but I didn't see a specific method for resolving that. Any help in being able to build/install apps would be appreciated. I am using an Oak4-s R9 camera with agent version 0.14.0, OS version 1.18.3 (debug), and I am connecting via a Windows 11 machine.

Docker has to be built with network=host option, otherwise it will crash the device. Though you really shouldn't be doing that.

Let's first test if the /etc/resolv.conf is the problem. Could you please add this to the oakapp.toml to manually add the file there (copy contents from the device side). OR attaching to the container and adding it manually. Then try pinging debian to see if it works.

This is the issue I am really trying to solve. How would I specify the path on the camera to pull the resolv.conf file from in the toml file? When this happens there isn't any new app container or docker container on the camera to be able to do some of the troubleshooting steps that were previously mentioned. The docker commands were just me trying to duplicate some of those.

You need to use the command COPY to send a suitable resolv.conf file to the device as first command in the toml file.

AlessandroB Does that have to be from my PC or is it able to pull the resolv.conf from the camera OS? There is one in the camera OS I just wasn't sure if I need to create one on my PC or if I was able to reference a source path on the camera OS for it to pull in to the app container.

I copied the namespace information from the resolv.conf on the camera to a file on my PC and it was able to build and create an app on the camera. The app ID was all zeros though. It also ran into an issue trying to start the new app at the end of the build process. It looked like the default app that was installed during setup was running so I don't know if that is what caused the error. I stopped that app and started the one it just built and was able to start the new one. Progress at least!

mhinckley I also was not able to successfully run apt update from the app container. The nameserver addresses aren't what I put in the resolv.conf file that the toml file uploaded from my PC.

In my opinion, you are not resolving the DNS. Try to upload a resolv.conf file with Google's DNS or someone else that you are sure that works in your network.

I am having issue building standalone app. I am relatively new to the field. I am using an organization's network with DHCP enabled for the camera. I have successfully pinged services like deb.debian.org from the camera but never able to built the app using oakctl. I will try to share my .toml, device info, and actual failed messages.

I tried to copy the local dns info at /data/resolv.conf to the container's resolv.conf and checked during **prepare build container.
**
I may not be asking the right question but lot of time is going in troubleshooting, any help is greatly appreciated. 🙂

I solved the issue:

Creating a resolv.conf file containing: nameserver 8.8.8.8 (you can use the DNS server you want), that I saved in the app's root folder in my PC.
Putting this instruction: { type = "COPY", source = "resolv.conf", target = "/etc/resolv.conf" }, as the first command in the prepare_container field in the toml file. I kept the prepare_build_container field empty.

I didn't succeed by copying the resolv.conf file from within the device.
