Aswath Hi, we are working on a project which needs depth measurement with an accuracy of 1mm. The working distance is between 70cm to 120cm. We would like to know if Luxonis's camera could be used for our use case.
erik Hi Aswath , Unfortunately, most likely no, stereo depth accuracy is below 3% (usually about 1-2%).
Aswath Hi @erik, thanks for a quick reply. I would like to know is there any other ways we could achieve this accuracy other than stereo vision.
erik Hi Aswath , I'd rather suggest TOF approach, maybe OAK-D-SR-POE, which has TOF sensor integrated: https://docs.luxonis.com/projects/hardware/en/latest/pages/OAK-D-SR-POE/ Thoughts?
Aswath erik, As per the spec, the accuracy is 1% @ 1m, which comes around 1cm when used indoors (we will be using it indoors). This is way more than our 1mm range. Does reducing the FoV of ToF sensor help increase the accuracy?
erik Hi Aswath , That's the max error, usually it's closer to 0.5%. For 0.1% error rate, you'd need to look into industrial cameras/3D scanners. Reducing FOV wouldn't achieve better depth accuracy for TOF sensor.
