It's technically possible to calculate the focus distance based on the position, but you'd need to know the max and min position. This is different on each camera. I guess you need to test it out empirically.

What depth accuracy would you require to 1m (what's the application / what is depth info used for)? Is RGB really required from few cm to 1m (eg. it's not required for barcode/QR code scanning). Are vibrations inside a van really that bad that AF wouldn't be able to keep the lens in place?
My initial guess would be OAK ToF, which variant depends on color cam resolution requirement.
