AF range limits

Would it be possible to contrain the ISP (or whatever is responsible for that on the hardware side) to probe only within a certain range when auto-focussing? The API does not seem to offer this at the moment and I wonder if this is even technically possible?
Background: Having the camera behind a glass wall with speckles of dirt, it shall never fokus on them..

We don't have a good solution for this. A hack is to limit the lens movement inside the VCM driver, but 3A will still request it to move/sweep on the preconfigured range (tuning related). I'll add this to a branch to experiment with.

We should also look if there's a way to properly configure for 3A.
