  • Flash boot in the device with OAK-1

Hi

I have a question about your USB camera such as OAK-1 and OAK-D so on.
As far as i know it is USB boot products. So it can not standalone without its host like Window pc or rasberry pi...

But if someone want to make this product as a standalone, how they can do? I think they want to make it flash boot from in the device without any host. After finishing their development stage, is it possible for them to guide any solution? it also ok for them to modify its hardware after development stage if there is any solution for this. I know you have IoT line such as OAK-D-IoT-75. But i think only one color camera is engough for their application so they want to use OAK-1 rather than three camera models. Feel free to share any your exprience or ideas.

Best regards,
Ryn.

    Hello RyanLee ,
The device needs to have flash memory in order to run it in standalone mode. USB devices like OAK-1, OAK-D, etc. don't have flash memory, so they can't run in standalone mode. Even if they could run in standalone mode, you would still need to power it via USB-C cable and use USB-C for communication with the outside world (in contrast, OAK IOT can communicate via WiFI/Bluetooth and OAK PoE can communicate via PoE - TCP/UDP/HTTP...).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks, Erik

    Hi Erik,

Thank you so much about its confirm. i am clear now. So if someone want to make it as a standalone, it is better to buy SoM type and making their own project such as adding host device, flash and powering too. Othewise would rather you recommand them using OAK IOT device.

    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Ryan.
