Oak-4D initial power through PoE module red light

Hey Jaka,

No worries on the response time, and apologies on that front from me too. Understood on the injector being passive. That's good to know. I am however still facing issues with the initial registration of the Oak 4 D unit. After the red ring flashes for a few times it stops and fades, after which no lights are burning. From what I've read should it not continue to a blue light despite the initial red light if there is enough power? Further, I've tried using oakctl to discover the camera. My setup at the moment has one of the ethernet cables from the PoE+ injectors to the camera and another ethernet cable from the injector to my desktop computer running windows. I have Oakctl installed and operational but when running $oakctl setup - or connect there's no ability to connect to the camera or discover it.

Would you have any advice on continued troubleshooting/setup?

I'm thinking it has to be power still.
Do you have a power brick with PD that can supply 30W? Try using that to power the device. LED should be blue after the bootup sequence is complete.

Hey Jaka,

I do have a powerbrick with PD that can supply 30W. However the LED light does the same thing. Flashes red multiple times and then turns off. If it's of use I'd be happy to attach further pics or videos?

Could you try to discover your device using USB, via the command adb devices.

If you find the device via adb devices, then please run:
adb shell cat /etc/os-release

If that doesn't work, could you tell us if there are any link lights blinking on the port of your ethernet switch to which the OAK4-D is connected?

I am also not able to discover the device via USB-C using the command adb devices

There are no link lights blinking on the port of my ethernet switch when plugged in either.

To ensure I provide as much detail as possible on this -> I have my Oak4D connected to my PoE+ Injector for the power, with another ethernet cable running from the PoE injector to my router. From this I'm still unable to discover the device on my network. This returns "List of devices attached" but this list is empty.

One thing I've not tried is ensuring that the device is plugged into my ethernet switch, power and connected via USB to my device

Thanks for trying via adb devices.

Could you try plugging out all cables and then plugging in only the 30W USB-C PD powerbrick, followed by plugging the ETH cable directly into your non PoE switch (bypassing the PoE injector).

I would like to make sure that the PoE is bypassed completely in case there is any issue with the device or the injector.

Hey Filip,

I've tried this and the results are still the same. My 30W USB-C PD powerbrick is plugged in, and the ETH cable is plugged directly into the router and the list of ADB devices is still empty.

One thing not visible on the video - after the light turns off after blinking red - if you wait about 20s, nothing happens? I'm guessing it's the cable that is causing issues - can you try a different one (C-C) that supports 30+ watts?

Indeed after the light turns off, 20 seconds later nothing happens and I am unable to list the device through ADB devices. I run into the same issues when I use the PoE injector + ethernet cable. I will find a different USB-C cable to try, however this cable has no issues on any of my other devices. That being said, i realise how tech can be so I will update this thread with a video of a different usb-c cable + 20 seconds of extra footage to showcase whether anything happens

Hey Jaka,

This is a video with a different USB-C to USB-cable attempt. I've also shot the video longer to show nothing happens after 20 seconds of being plugged in and off camera I did an "ADB devices" check and found nothing on the network. Does this showcase anything further? I would really love to get the camera to startup properly and am not quite sure what else to try in that regard
