  • depthai-core timeline for transition to v3_develop

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that the v3_develop branch on the depthai-core repository is actively being worked on. Does anyone have insight into when this branch might replace the current v2.x.x version? I'm trying to stay ahead with compatibility and planning for upcoming updates.

    Public release is planned mid November AFAIK. It does currently work with alpha4, but there are features missing, which we will be rolling out over time. The v2 will not be replaced until all functionality from v2 is present on v3 as well.

      I’m glad to hear that V3 is coming out soon! Could you provide more details on which features might still be missing by the public release?

      So far, I’ve noticed that some V2 examples haven’t been updated yet, such as the removal of explicit XLink nodes. It would be great to know if there are other gaps or adjustments to expect, so I can plan accordingly.

        Synced with the team, we aim to have all features present on v3 from the start. There might be some stability issues because the version lacks extensive tests. Examples will be ported slowly over time.

        Not planned. A slightly different syntax and removal of Xlink nodes and changes to NN nodes are all breaking changes. I honestly wouldn't recommend switching to V3 if you don't need the new functionality and are not on the new RVC4 platform. V2 will stay working on depthai-python, no need to worry about it.
