missed ping / crash on remote oak

When connecting to a remote oak, we sometimes get a "missed ping" or just a crash
It was suggested to increase the "search" timeout, which we did but didn't change a thing
It was also suggested to specify the IP of the camera, which we have been specifying already (as the OAK is remote)

Also of note, when the sw closes the connection it has already discovered the device, so the problem is probably somewhere else. It is related to the network latency for sure, and it maybe happens in the monitor thread, see below
But I don't have any information on how to fix this.

Is there anything we can do, maybe a patch or a workaround or something?

I believe you just configured timeouts for initial connection, perhaps you could try to set DEPTHAI_WATCHDOG - more info here. I'd also look into the actual network config/connection or perhaps NIC settings, as that's likely the root cause.
