• RAE
  • Yet another RAE that doesn't want to cooperate

Hello,

I got my RAE last month, but I've been struggling to connect it to robothub or any wifi.

I've attempted the following:

  1. Scanning the QR code on RobotHub.

  2. Manually set up the wifi following the guidelines in the documentation, even positioning myself right next to the router to rule out connection issues.

  3. Set a static IP address for the RAE via the router to ensure there isn't a DHCP issue.

  4. Tried to link RAE with my phone's hotspot network, but that didn't work either.

I've also:

  • Reinstalled the firmware multiple times (versions 1.12 and 1.13) without any change in the wifi issue.

  • Attempted several resets. However, I'm unsure if I did it right. When pushing in the pin, I feel a slight resistance. I'm not certain if I'm hitting the reset button or if the pin is just sliding off (I've used different pins to be sure).

Regarding the QR code for Robothub, RAE's screen only displays "Register at robothub.luxonis.com", and a single green LED is lit underneath, but there's no other response.

I think I've gone through all the suggestions from this forum and the documentation, but nothing's worked. As of now, my RAE is essentially a costly paperweight, and I'm at a loss. Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

This is exactly what should be displayed. You should log in into your account, add a robot, wifi SSID and password and point one of the cameras at the QR code.
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but perhaps you just didn't scan the code so the device would recognize it?
It takes some trial and error to position the rae correctly.

I really wouldn't go for the manual wifi setup unless absolutely necessary.

edit: which link did you install the fw from? Make sure to use the 1.12. Link ->> https://docs-beta.luxonis.com/hardware/rae/firmware/

Thanks and sorry for your troubles.

Well that's curious because on the Getting started video it shows the leds all white and then blinking blue:

You should log in into your account, add a robot, wifi SSID and password and point one of the cameras at the QR code.

I am logged and I tried on various angles and distances multiple times but no reaction from the RAE

And about the firmware, the RAE has currently the the version 1.12 I installed from the link you provided.

So if there any steps I should explore, I would gladly go through them.

I just realised something looking again at the video. I'm supposed to use the cameras the back of RAE to scan the QRcode.

    It worked…..

I have a sudden great urge to throw away my table…

But thanks, for your answer anyway.

    Best Regards

      Hi vany
      I'm glad it works now😃
Pretty sure both front and back cameras work for QR detection, though did have to point the front camera from a very small distance (3-4cm) for it to work.

      Thanks,
      Jaka

jakaskerl They might both work now after a software update, but the original version only worked using the rear camera
