Hi
I'd like to be able to set the OAK-1 focal length as needed ( possibly also on the fly using the API ) to be able to be able to get a clear photo of objects of size 20mm long ( 3/4" ) and the object would be approx 2m ( 6 feet ) away. The camera would have a strong LED light source to illuminate the area being photographed. It would be on the end of a robot arm doing machinery inspections.
The idea is to send that image from the camera to a computer to process the image with machine vision to detect specific objects in the photo.
Is it possible to do this and could I also later use a time of flight sensor and python software on an external computer to alter the focal length of the camera as its being used please?
I'm hoping to in effect create a software driven autofocus camera able to detect small objects ( 20mm/ 0.80 inches in size ) over a distance. Most usb cameras have a limited useful distance up to say 1m/3 feet, but I need high resolution up to 2 m but also likely up to 4m away eventually.
Thoughts welcome! Thanks. :-)
