AndrewPasquale Hi Team, May i please ask what would be safe cleaning solutions for the Oak lens? (e.g. isopropyl alcohol, or plastic cleaner?) Kind Rgds, Andrew
vital I recommend getting deionized water for cleaning lenses and screens. The Oak may be fine with IPA but many devices have special coatings on them which can be damaged by solvents. Deionized water will clean it perfectly without leaving residue or causing damage.
AndrewPasquale Thank you Jakaskerl and Vital, greatly appreciate your help. I was interested in using Isopropyl to remove oily stains that water may struggle to remove on its own. Maybe i should try soapy water :-P
vital You would be surprised what de-ionized water can remove. It is an extremely powerful solvent. When the charged particles are removed water becomes 'hungry' and even soaks up CO2 from the air which immediately makes it slightly acidic (this is why you will never be able to measure water at an actual pH of 7 in a home setting). Get a jug of 'purified' or 'distilled' water from the store (not drinking water) and use a microfiber cloth. If the oil is on the surface and not embedded into the material it should be able to be removed easily with a few drops of water and a little scrubbing.
