Hey All,
I am working on a use case where I'd like to use an OAK camera for the onboard processing but I also need to have GPS data as part of the meta data imbedded in the video or stills... It looks like the OAK cameras don't provide that.. Are there other cameras that can be used with this that do provide GPS and the ability to do object detection? I know the depthAI libs probably work only with the OAK cameras but needed to ask....

Any ideas for a solution to this?
Thanks!
Harry

    Hi hchattaway ,
DepthAI only works with OAK cameras, and we don't have any standard model (eg. on shop.luxonis.com) that has GPS module as well. There are some custom hardware models we are developing for customers that have GPS integrated, using the OAK-SOM-MAX. So for now I would suggest having GPS module that you can connect to the host computer (eg RPI), to whihc you also connect the OAK cam.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks, Erik

    Hi Eric,
Yes i was thinking the same thing about just having a standalone GPS on board that can be synced with the video... Seems to be a reasonable solution...

It would be a cool and pretty popular hardware update to include GPS in a version of the camera... This is for monitoring position and identifying hazards of a vehicle fleet. So having GPS info would be a great commercial feature to have.

    Thanks!
