  • Motion detection to activate mobile phone

Hi. My brother has CP but lives on his own with support for most of the day. However at night he needs to be able to notify the caretaker if he needs assistance. Is it possible to set up a motion detector/sensor to trigger a phone call or SMS to a mobile number? Grateful for any advice you can provide. Thank you.

Thanks so much for your response.
I think the “waving” action would definitely work for Anthony.
How do I progress this? Is there a contact list for people such as you who could code and test this for us?
    Thanks, Jen

      Hi Jenv217 ,
I think any python developer would be able to hack together a POC, or you could ask if there are any freelance developers who are experienced with depthai on our discord server. Thoughts?
      Thanks, Erik

Thanks again Erik. I've posted to discord - hopefully someone will be interested.

A while back, I helped a friend set up a system for something similar. Basically, we connected a motion detector to a mobile phone, and to keep it simple, we used a service that lets you send and receive SMS online free Australia. This way, the detector could send an SMS to the caretaker’s phone whenever it was triggered, without needing a full phone plan. It was easy to set up and gave us some peace of mind. It might be a good option for your brother too.
