The future of Movidius™ Myriad™ X VPU
- Edited
Hi pauljurczak ,
Intel discontinued NCS2, not Myriad X, see full documentation here. That said, our next generations (eg series 3) won't be based on Myriad X. Thoughts?
Thanks, Erik
erik Thank you for the link. It does answer my question for the near future. Intel wants to divest from Movidius and has a long history of abandonware, both hardware and software. I just wanted to get more info on this topic, in order to make an educated decision.
Hi pauljurczak , totally makes sense. As mentioned in docs, we have a guaranteed supply of chips till 2026, when we will buy a large batch so we will likely be able to produce current cameras till 2030 (when these will be really old). I hope I have cleared some concerns about the supply/support.
Thanks, Erik
