Multiple Oak-T and synchronisation

Dear luxonis,
we have two oak thermal cameras.
Is it possible to sync both thermal sensors to make stereo possible ?
The hardware part seems present, but I could not find the synchronisation parameters for thermal nodes in v2 and v3.
Is there any way to achieve this ?

Hey aeudes - at the moment, no supported DepthAI v2 or v3 path exists for using two OAK Thermal sensors as a true stereo pair.

We expose thermal streaming/configuration and software timestamp synchronization, but there are no documented thermal-specific synchronization controls or built-in thermal stereo support. The available examples cover thermal streaming and RGB-to-thermal alignment, not thermal-to-thermal stereo.

So in practice, you could only attempt a custom host-side synchronization approach, but true hardware-synced thermal stereo is not something we currently support.

Also, OAK-T has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase.

Thanks for your quick answers, it is aligned with what I have read in the code and documentation.
I was asking to be sure that I have not missed something or if you have any hack to propose.

I have seen the OAK-T disappear from the store but I was not sure if it was discontinued or if a new RVC4 version will appear.
Sorry to hear that it is the first option. It was usefull to have a cheap thermal sensor for robotics application.

Just to clarify on host-side synchronisation, the delay between frames will be on the order of 0.5/fps or we could expect less delay due to camera timestamp alignment ?

aeudes - OAK-T was discontinued mainly because we ran into supply-chain issues with the thermal sensor itself.
We still see value in thermal for robotics, and the current direction is to bring thermal back in a future RVC4/OAK4-based variant rather than as the old OAK-T product.

On host-side synchronization, it is not a fixed 0.5 / fps delay. If you synchronize by timestamps on the host, the effective offset can often be smaller than that, but because the two thermal sensors are not hardware-synced, there is no deterministic guarantee. In practice, you should expect variable inter-frame offset/jitter rather than true stereo-grade synchronization.
