Luxonis enters our 8th year in business!
In our annual birthday edition, I will provide you with updates on our progress over the last year and share details on a number of exciting upcoming new items. Last year, 2025, was our best year ever as we hit records across the board. It is great to see that momentum continue in 2026 as Luxonis helps to enable the next wave of physical artificial intelligence (AI).
Let’s start at the beginning. Luxonis was founded in 2019 with a simple idea: bringing real-time human perception to machines. For decades, robotic automation delivered big productivity gains in controlled environments where the conditions are always identical. Industrial robotics are reliably able to move, manipulate, and repeat across a wide range of functions so long as everything in the scene is repeatable: same lighting, same temperature, same positioning, same parts.
Where robotic automation has fallen short of its promise is in the real physical world where half of global GDP operates. Machines have struggled to operate in real world environments where conditions are constantly changing. Lacking the amazing perception abilities of humans, machines have been slow, clumsy, and prone to error. These contrasting realities are seen all around us. Go to an Amazon fulfillment center or an automotive factory and the amount of robotic automation will blow you away. In comparison, you don’t see drones delivering your groceries, robots bussing your table, or humanoids cleaning your office toilets.
The future of physical AI is incredibly bright and the key to its potential being unlocked is machines having perception that first meets then ultimately exceeds humans.
Creating this future started with inventing the OAK-D, a powerful combination of performant, embedded, spatial, computer vision (CV), and AI. The OAK-D provides customers with a 3D map of the world and the onboard AI & CV processing allows customers to do a variety of tasks such as detecting objects, counting, and tracking defects.
We have continued to build rapidly ever since with our most recent milestone being the introduction of our new OAK 4, check it out here.
Creating OAK 4 was the culmination of sitting with hundreds of our customer’s biggest opportunities and problems over recent years. What our customers required was very clear. They need more compute, they need higher resolutions, they need more sensors fused on the edge, and they need more capable software that enables them to do more.
OAK 4 delivers on all of that and more. With an astounding 40x increase in AI performance, the OAK 4 allows our customers to solve complex vision problems with ease. Building on Luxonis pioneering edge sensing, the OAK 4 now includes an onboard GPU. If you want to learn more about the types of problems that OAK can solve, check out our customer case studies here.
Our first OAK 4 devices: D, S, CS are just the beginning. In 2026, we will be launching more new products than we ever have in our company history under the OAK 4 line up. You can expect to see these new products come onto our Prototype Access shop in the coming months!
