OAK4-CS is our modular smart camera for people who care deeply about optics.
Instead of fixing you to a single field of view, OAK4-CS gives you a rugged, AI-ready camera body with a C/CS-mount front, so you choose the lens, the working distance, and the scene. From conveyor lines to microscopes, it’s built to adapt to your application, not the other way around.
Basic Features and Core Functions
The OAK4-CS is a rugged, AI-ready camera body built for industrial environments, running LuxonisOS and DepthAI. Its primary function is to eliminate the limitations of a fixed lens and field of view, letting you adapt the camera to your precise application needs.
Key Features:
Modular C/CS-Mount: Features a standard C/CS-mount front, allowing you to choose the perfect off-the-shelf or specialized lens for your work (e.g., macro, telephoto, low-light).
High-Speed Connectivity: Supports both PoE+ (25W) and USB-C (30W) for power, and features 2.5 Gb Ethernet for high-speed data transfer.
Built-in Sensors: Includes a 6-DOF gyro/accelerometer and a 3-DOF magnetometer IMU for advanced spatial awareness.
Rugged Design: The camera body has an IP65 rating, which can be upgraded to IP67 when used with the optional Lens Hood accessory and a compatible lens.

Why Global Shutter Matters
One of the key sensor options for the OAK4-CS is the 5 MP OG05B10 sensor, which features a Global Shutter.
A global shutter captures the entire image sensor's data at the exact same moment. This is crucial for applications involving fast-moving objects, as it completely eliminates artifacts like:

If your application involves high-speed inspection, quality control on a conveyor line, or robotics, a global shutter provides the clean, undistorted frames necessary for accurate AI processing.
Sensor and Lens Customization
The OAK4-CS offers a choice of image sensors, each paired with the universal C/CS lens holder:

You can read more about resolution of sensors here.
An optional Stock Lens Add-On is available to get you started: a 12 MP-rated, 10–50 mm zoom C-mount lens with the necessary C–CS adapter ring.
Differentiating from OAK4-D
While both are high-performance OAK4 industrial cameras, the OAK4-CS and OAK4-D are designed for fundamentally different tasks:

OAK4-CS Applications in the Real World
The OAK4-CS has been successfully deployed in applications requiring specific, non-standard optics.
Precision Measurement and Gauging: Utilizing a specialized, low-distortion macro lens for highly accurate dimensional measurements and object gauging in manufacturing.
Long-Distance Monitoring: Employing a telephoto lens to monitor infrastructure (e.g., pipeline, utility line) or wildlife from a safe or distant position.
Low-Light/Specialized Spectrum Vision: Integrating a lens optimized for near-infrared (NIR) or UV spectrums, allowing the camera to see details invisible to the human eye for specific security or industrial applications.
High-Speed Ball Tracking: Leveraging the Global Shutter sensor option and a high-magnification lens to accurately track fast-moving objects, such as balls in sports analytics (e.g., speed, trajectory, spin) or small, fast-moving parts on an assembly line.
Here at Luxonis, our team has played with a few of these use cases to demonstrate the unique capabilities of OAK4-CS.
- Conveyor Inspection: Using a telephoto C-mount lens for high-resolution quality checks on moving goods. GitHub

- Microscope / PCB Defect Detection: Integrated with a microscope lens to detect micro-level defects on circuit boards using a custom neural network.
