We’re excited to announce RVC4 (Robotics Vision Core - OS that powers Luxonis cameras) 1.18, a major update that brings new hardware support, camera optimizations, and improvements across system stability and setup.
The most important highlight: a new way to set up cameras – making it easier and more reliable than ever before. To help you get started, we’ve prepared two video guides that walk you through the new setup flow.
Major Startup Changes in OS 1.18+
Starting with OS version 1.18 (September 2025), OAK cameras are now pre-configured for local use:
Stronger security by default: SSH password access is disabled, while oakctl works without a password. If you update from an older OS, you’ll lose SSH access and must reconfigure through setup.luxonis.com or through ADB.
Ready out-of-the-box: Devices now boot directly into a usable state without extra setup. The status LED turning solid blue (instead of blinking) indicates it’s ready.
These changes make setup simpler, faster, and more secure.
