  • Specific Data Collection off OAK-D Long Range

Hi, I was wondering if the OAK-D Long Range was capable of getting relatively accurate distance data or able to collect speed data. I plan on mounting this to the back of a bicycle and measuring the lateral spacing between passing cars as well as their speed or speed variance. Is that feasible? Is there a certain range limit or accuracy discrepancies? If there is another device you guys have that can do this, please let me know.

Thank you.

Yes it's possible, to a varying degree obviously. The farther away you are from the device, the lower the depth resolution -I mean less disparity per meter of distance:

This means you get more and more imprecise measurements which means your calculated speed also uncertainty also increases. Check LR accuracy - https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/platform/depth/depth-accuracy/#Depth%20Accuracy-Stereo%20Depth%20Accuracy-800P%2C%20150mm%20baseline%20distance%20OAK-D%20LR

You'll have to be more specific about what you wish to achieve and how. But this should hopefully answer your question.

    Thanks,
