Hello everyone. We are using the **OAK-1 W OV9782** product in one of our equipment models as an FPV camera. The equipment is a drone, an unmanned aircraft. The OAK-1 camera is installed so that the USB-C connection is protected within the frame of the drone, to ensure that the USB-C connection and cable do not come into contact with moisture or water during flights on rainy days. Not sure about the cracks but I think the issue might be that the camera is missing an IR filter. Do you have any IR CUT filter you can test with to check if the issue disappears?

It makes sense, but does it come with an original IR filter? Because the camera was used for some time, and the image was normal, then this issue appeared.

If the IR filter doesn't come with it, the problem was supposed to appear at the beginning, right? And if it comes with an IR filter, what could have happened to have it "broken"?

OV9782 cameras are known to have missing IR filters since the same sensor is used in stereo setups as well (with active stereo). I'd be surprised if the sensor had the IR CUT filter and it shattered after, but it could be possible I guess. Can be caused by HF vibrations / mechanical stress / thermal expansion.

From the images you have sent I am unable to tell whether the shatters could be the cause. Do you have another camera to test - are these shatters present there?

Thank you for the quick response. I'm working with César on this matter.

So, from what I'm understanding, we have two hypothesis, correct?

Important consideration: this happened with other cameras too, at least 2 in a total 5 in operation.

Hypothesis A
- The camera was shipped missing the IR filter but we only noted the difference when flying our drones in a bright day.

Hyphotesis B
- The IR filter was damaged (explaining the cracks) due to mechanical vibrations and/or thermal stress, then over time we noticed the pinky effect.

Question:
1- Are those "cracks" normal?
2- By using the serial numbers, could you confirm if the unit have with or without the IR filter?

If devices are the same, we can clear both.

A: Check other three devices in the sunlight and check for missing IR filter.

B: Check if other three devices have cracks.

Then cross-compare.

I'd say it's more likely that the cameras were shipped lacking IR CUT filter. I can't say that for sure even with serial numbers.
