  • Sharpness Issue on Right Side of Image with OAK-D-S2 Fixed Focus

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a sharpness issue with my OAK-D-S2 fixed-focus camera.

The left side of the image, from the border to about 65% across the frame, is sharp, but the remaining 35% on the right side appears slightly out of focus.

Issue Description: The sharpness drops off noticeably from around 65% of the image width toward the right edge. I’m testing at a distance of approximately 65 cm, which should be within the optimal range given the camera’s focus from 50 cm to infinity.

Questions

  1. Is this drop-off in sharpness something to be expected with the OAK-D-S2, or does it suggest a potential defect?

  2. Is there a way to achieve consistent sharpness across the entire FOV with this camera, or any adjustments I can make to improve the image quality on the right side?

I’m attaching two images for reference: one that is sharp and another showing the lack of sharpness on the right side.

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

It's a defect most likely related to the placement of camera lens. The sharpness should be uniform. Could you provide the MXID of the device please so I can check the factory calibration.

You can write to support@luxonis.com so we can replace the device for you.

    Thanks,
