I just got my OAK-D S2. I've connected it to an M1 MacBook Pro and installed the python tools. The warning implies a less than optimal connection.

I've tried with several different USB-C cables, including a known good 20G one I use to connect a 10G SanDisk external SSD. Location ID: 0x02100000 / 1 Current Available (mA): 500 Current Required (mA): 500 Extra Operating Current (mA): 0 ``` Whereas my SSD shows up like this: ``` PRO-BLADE Transport: Product ID: 0x205f Vendor ID: 0x4791 Version: 40.05 Serial Number: Speed: Up to 10 Gb/s Manufacturer: SanDisk Location ID: 0x02200000 / 1 Current Available (mA): 900 Current Required (mA): 896 Extra Operating Current (mA): 0 ``` This is on one of the Mac’s USB 3.1 buses.

Hi @JetForMe , Could you try with some other computer? It might also be the USB-C connector on the OAK, or perhaps the connection isn't good between cable and connector, so only USB2 lines are connected. If it's connector, we can replace the device (send email to support@luxonis.com after reconnecting/trying with different computer).

I've tried it with two of the three ports on the MacBook Pro. I've also successfully connected other devices to the MBP at high speed (as shown above). I doubt it’s the Mac. But I pulled out my previous MBP, an Intel MacBook Pro with four USB-C ports. It also shows up as a USB 2 device (480 Mb/s).

I don't know if it might be the firmware on the device?

My replacement camera arrived, and it still connects as USB2. Unless this was a known issue with the manufacturing of your cameras, I'd be surprised that they both had a problem. It must be a software issue, no?

Disregard this msg, as it's bootloader, and it will always show up as usb2. After uploading the pipeline + FW, it will switch to USB3 (if possible). Have you tried USB bandwidth test with the new camera?

Ah! Sure enough, the new one does connect at 5 GB/s and has much better bandwidth test numbers:

(BTW the formatting controls on this forum really suck. I can't precisely set just a portion of the text to code block style, as evidenced above by the English sentence. I'm trying to format only the python output, but it insists on doing both. I'd highly recommend changing the forum to Discourse, but at the very least maybe there's an update for whatever you use that fixes this issue? Safari 17.5 on macOS 14.5)
