M1 Macbook Installation Issue

Hi, I read quite a few threads dated a couple of years ago here that appear to have resolved installation issues of DepthAI on M1 mac (such as rosetta terminal, reinstall homebrew etc.). So I simply tried following the instruction here hoping it would just work.

When I ran bash -c "$(curl -fL https://docs.luxonis.com/install_dependencies.sh)", I get the following error:

I was hoping if you could point me in the right direction on troubleshooting

Hi @akramach
Hmm, I'll check what the issue is. But really, the only thing the script installs is homebrew and git. If you have both, you should need to run it.

ok, so if i already have homebrew and git, what are my next steps towards getting the DepthAI viewer or some demo code working?

Try this: curl -fL https://docs.luxonis.com/install_dependencies.sh | bash (should fix the above error - at least it does on my MBP).

pip install depthai-viewer then depthai-viewer. Also git clone https://github.com/luxonis/depthai-python.git and python3 depthai-python/examples/install_requirements.py - should install depthai.

@jakaskerl when i connect using the provided usb cable (usb 3 i presume), depthai-viewer shows i'm connected in USB 2 mode. I also ran latency_check.py code, i get a HIGH speed with low fps

For my application, I'd need to be sending frames at/close to 120fps. I've also read some old threads on this topic

How can I achieve this?

The port you are using also has to support USB3. The port has to be blue.

@jakaskerl The host I have is a Macbook M1 Pro with Thunderbolt 4 USB C port that supports USB 4. So I'm wiring the Luxonis provided USB C-A connector to the Thunderbolt 4 via a A-C adapter.

Let me try with a USB C-C connector that supports 3.2, and see if it improves.

Also, since I have the Oak D Pro and running IR, should I be powering it via the Y-adapter rather than through the USB C? Will that affect frame throughput?

I'm powering the Pro with my MBP and am having no issues. You can use the adapter just to be safe.

@jakaskerl looks like it was the cable…with a USB C-C 3.2 cable, I'm able to get lower latencies powering with MBP…latency goes down to ~8.5ms for the mono set to 120fps at 400P
