• RAE
  • RAE demo for CES (Consumer Electronics Show)

Hi

Steve Simpson here. I have been with Luxonis every step of the way from 10 minutes into the first OAK-D kickstarter.

I am launching my new startup company SmartMansion Inc. at CES and I need some help with a demo.

I have a demo up and running with OAK-D.

I use depthai_hand_tracker and phue to detect gestures and control Hue lights.

I want to move the demo to RAE, but it is not obvious how to do so.

Basically I want to lobotimize RAE and keep only the control of the internal RAE LED lights. Then I need basic OAK-D functionality from the front cameras to run my normal code.

Can someone there assist with this? I am really under the gun, CES starts tomorrow.

The benefits of this is that I will have a portable demo that I can carry in my pocket.

I would very much appreciate your help with this!

I talked to Jim Kernan just now and he suggested I post my question/request here.

Best Regards

Steve Simpson

    Hi stevefs
Sorry for late response, had so sync with the team on the best steps.

Turns out wIth this little time, it would be tricky to run anything outside of apps we already have. While it should be possible to run depthai API code, the model used by the hand_tracker is based on RVC2, which is not directly compatible with RAE (running RVC3).
There is apparently a hand_landmark model available for RVC3, but this will take some additional time to migrate.

The RAE python API is also not in a state where it would be able to control the internal LEDs of the device.

It should be possible to run your demo on Oak-CM4 (RPI host) or similar, if you need portability.

    Thanks,
    Jaka
