  • Perception Apps on RAE?

1. After reinstalling the standard app, I got it to run but robothub seems unable to connect to the video. It just says this seems to be taking longer than usual. Should the default app support camera to robothub?

2. Also, should the default app set up a web server? When I http or https to the IP address, I am getting a refused to connect error.

3. I then tried to install another app but that wasn't allowed unless I uninstalled the default app. Can multiple apps run one at a time or is a full uninstall needed?

4. The counter app seems to take forever to install. Is that right?

Thanks if you can help on any of the above.

brianlmerritt … I have been able to get the default app v1.1.1 working as expected with FW:1.13.
Cameras, movement (motors), able to add face to display, and change base lighting effects - all work.

What is your connection speed displayed in the controlling app ?

Mike Thanks Mike - I don't know as it's stuck loading the Counter App and default app was deleted.

Did you get the default app to support web services? How did you access the video stream?

I will reset and hope and retry.

Nope, it is still stuck loading the counter app. I can't assign the default app back, although a device less install is also pending. I need somehow get into robothub and terminate whatever is hanging the install as resetting the robot has not done anything.

OK, soft reset (rm -rf /data) and reboot worked. The reset switch may be broken. Steaming worked then, and I can now launch the local front end. Poor thing needs a recharge, so will do that before I pester anyone further 😃

ps - super impressed with the charging pad on the RAE base!

        Hi brianlmerritt
Just to clarify, you are using the RAE?
According to our devs, only the RAE - Default app is supported right now. The rest of the apps are meant for other (non rae) RVC3 devices.

        Thanks,
        Jaka

          jakaskerl Yes, using RAE.

          Findings so far:

Reset (or `rm -rf /data`) and deleting and reconnecting on robothub fixes issue if wrong app loaded (and how should we know what are the right apps? Something to work on for future I think)

Initial provision of RAE on robothub does NOT setup the default app to that device. I believe if you reset a RAE and try this, you will need to take the extra step of allocating it to the device. Not sure if this can be fixed, but it affects every user on startup.

It's a lovely product, and I know it's early days. Very interested to explore the other RVC3 devices now too 😃
