• RuntimeError: No PROTECTED permissions to override protected EEPROM fields

I have an OAK-FFC-3P straight from the factory. Without doing any calibration I plugged in the cameras and ran camera_isp.py and it would automatically pull up all 3 camera video feeds from each connected camera. I have IMX477 color cameras plugged into each socket. This differs from the OAK-D which has 2 mono cameras connected to the Left and Right sockets.

Then I decided to try running calibration_flash.py off the main branch which flashed the FFC-3P with the OAK-D config and calibration I believe. Now it just does not detect the color cameras connect to the left and right sockets anymore. No matter what I do I can not pull up those camera video feeds. The center cam open just fine when I run cameran_isp.py but in the terminal it says the other 2 cameras are not connected. Basically the device thinks only 1 camera is connected and I can not figure out a way to change this.

Please help me figure out how can I get this device to actually detect there is more than 1 camera connected? How can I get the device back to the way it was without any calibration on it?

When I try and re-flash the device to change the boardName to something random hoping it will allow me to get the video feeds again I get the error:

So basically this thing is stuck as an OAK-D. No matter what I try I just can not get the color cameras to work anymore. Why is it so difficult to correct? Shouldn't there be a utility to simply allow you to view the connected camera feeds? Why is it when I calibrated it to the OAK-D it will not allow me to view those cameras and how can I get it back to the way it was?

This is really frustrating. There should be a utility that at least allows you to view the cameras separate from the config or whatever is on the device. It should not be so hard to simply view the camera. It kills me that I have been struggling for hours just to see the video feed! This is insane.

Anyways, how can I just wipe this thing so there is no data on it and I can view all three video feeds again?

This is what the setup looks like. I am using all 3 color IMX477 cameras. I want to view all three color camera video feeds on the screen, but the left and right cameras are not detected at all. It thinks only 1 camera is connected to the device. The cables are all connected properly. It was pulling up all three video feeds until I ran calibration_flash.py and now that it thinks its an OAK-D it expects mono cams but since color cameras are connected it says no cameras are connected. Why is it designed like this? Why can't you develop a script that pulls up the video feed regardless of the config on the device, or at least have the script detect there is indeed a camera but not the one defined in the config. This is extremely frustrating just not being able to see the video, i just want to see the video, such a simple thing but I can not.

    Hi Nearpoint ,
    You can run cam_test.py -rs (script here)? Also note that IMX477 requires 4-lane MIPI for resolutions above 1080P, so connecting 3x of these to FFC-4P wouldn't be possible (as it has 2x 4lane and 2x 2lane MIPI ports).

      @erik when I originally connected all three cameras to the ffc-3p all three would open and at least display the cams. Can I lower the resolution of the left and right cams to at least see the video coming through?

        Hi Nearpoint ,
        I would double check the connection to those cameras - calibration shouldn't affect whether sensor is detected, and it seems only color cam sensor is detected.

          Nearpoint could you also try with 1080P resolution instead? Perhaps there's docs issue and IMX477 is actually 4-lane at higher res.

            I have tested and confirmed that with a known good camera and cable it works when connected on the center socket and running cam_test, the video pulls right up on the screen, but when the same camera and cable is connected to the left or right socket and I run cam_test no cameras are detected at all.

                  Hi Nearpoint ,
                  Besides checking out to develop version, you'd also want to update depthai library; after checking out to develop, run examples/install_requirements.py, which will update the library to develop version.

                    Updated the DepthAI dependency as mentioned and it is using it for cam_test although it is still not detected a known working camera and cable. I just tested it on the center socket and it works but when I connect it to the cam left socket it does not detect the camera at all

                      @erik I ordered a second ffc-3p, just received it and tested it out and the new ffc-3p brings up the colors cameras connected to left and right sockets just fine. It detects it like normal.

                      but the first ffc-3p still does not. do you think it is a hardware issue?
