Best Oak camera for underwater dept perception

We are using an underwater (up to 1.5m depth) monitoring system for small fish.

The fish are obviously moving and the light (daylight) is slightly reduced by the depth.

We need 3D perceptions because we require biometric measurements; (depth map would be best)

Currently tried a different brand camera with (IR sensor for depth) with unsatisfactory results.

I like the OAK D series, however, unsure how will behave under water.

Any advise is appreciated

I guess it would work if you were to apply some un-distortions. I'm not entirely sure how stereo based depth would behave underwater but I believe you will receive inaccurate depth measurements due to how the water warps the camera images. If you don't explicitly need the accurate xyz positions inside, my guess is that the depth should work fine.

Hi, thanks for the input

We need accurate mm distance between various points.

I guess we can calibrate once basics are working.

I am asking because on the model we have (different brand), I get no depth readings at all under water.

Any model you would think would be best?

The oak devices use the disparity between two stereo cameras to find the depth. As long as the image is bright enough and the terrain/pattern is discernible, the depth should work.
The model you go for depends on a few constraints:

size of the water tank (min/max) distance --> the baseline distance for stereo cameras
whether to use IR dot projector --> pro or standard

Since you said IR doesn't work well in water I personally wouldn't bother with the pro version.

Tank size is huge, however, distance to focus object is around 50cm.

Hi, not yet, we switch to an air application where the camera is performing well.
