OAK-D Pro W PoE does not respond on Ethernet

Hey all,

we recently purchased and unboxed three OAK-D Pro W PoE devices. We have a simple bench setup including a PoE injector and an Ubuntu 22.04 host PC. The setup generally works because we can connect and use two of the three cameras without any issues. Unfortunately, the third camera does not respond, i.e. we cannot ping the device. It does not make a difference if the IP address is assigned by the host PCs DHCP server or if we chose a static one (Host PC: 169.254.1.10/255.255.0.0, ping 169.254.1.222). An IP address scan (nmap) only shows the host PC.

We read through the support documentation but none of the hints was helpful. Any other suggestion what we could try out?

Can you confirm the device is powered on? There should be power and data lights flashing on the POE port. Maybe check if a POE injector is the problem and try using a POE switch if you can.

jakaskerl thanks for the hint. The PoE injector port does not provide such lights. Although the injector works with two cameras, I will check with a PoE switch and get back to you.

As suggested by @jakaskerl we've checked the lights on a PoE switch. Both lights, power and data transmission, lid up for the OAK-D Pro W PoE camera but it does not respond to a ping on 169.254.1.222. No other IP addresses were found when using nmap. We've crossed checked the setup with one of the other OAK-D Pro W PoE cameras - no issues here. Host PC ethernet interface uses 169.254.1.10/255.255.0.0.

Since the OAK-D Pro W PoE camera does not have an LED, it is hard to tell, without opening it, if it is really powered. Any other thoughts?

If lights work on the POE switch, the device likely works as well. Any chance you can connect it to a router and allow the router's dhcp table to assign the ip? Then check the admin panel for connected device.

Hey jakaskerl ,

connected it to a router that assigns IP addresses in the range of 192.168.50.*. Same as before, camera does not show up on nmap nor Admin panel. The other OAK-D Pro W PoE cameras get .192 without any issue.

Ok, then I would assume its either the bootloader or its the device that needs a factory reset - it seems to be bricked in some way.
