Long range options

Hi. I'm working on a project that requires the calculation of short distances (say 5cm between two identifiable objects) but maybe 200m away from the camera. Assuming there is no way to get this to work with a regular OAK-D are there any alternatives? I'm wondering about 1) is it possible to buy the individual components and mount the cameras further apart on a custom rig? 2) attach a zoom in order to increase the difference between left and right images? I saw this post and wondered if something like that might work? Many thanks in advance.

So are you able to share example images of the objects? If they're specific, and known there may be cheats to do this. There often are. It often depends on how variable the objects are, though. If they're readily identifiable, then I think you could probably do this. And likely you'd need to use something like 2x IMX477 cameras with C/CS mounts and relatively narrow FOV zoom lenses to cover what you're looking at.

Then I do think it would likely be doable. Having example images will say if it is. If there's high variability (stochastic) in the shape/size/etc. of the objects this will be extremely hard.

If it's low or practically variability, probably quite easy.
