Hello,

I have received an OAK-D pro (P/N A00546) and I have noticed that I can not modify the camera controls such as manual focus and brightness in MonoCamera mode.

Also I am not able to set the preview size as I can do in ColorCamera mode with camRgb.setPreviewSize command.

It seems like the properties of the OAK-D pro camera can access in ColorCamera mode only. I have followed the mentioned demo code (Mono Camera Control) Is it possible to manually adjust the properties of the MonoCamera?

Regards,

    Hi bsohaliya ,

MonoCamera node doesn't support many features (compared to ColorCamera node), like brightness I assume, and is fixed focus, so you can't set manual focus. Does Mono Camera Control work as expected (setting exposure)?

    Thanks, Erik

      Hello,

Thank you for your quick response. Yes, the exposure control works as expected.

Is there any way or camera to use LED with ColorCamera node? I would like to use camera to read barcode in dark enclosure in the range between 14-18 cm.

      Thank you!!

        Hi bsohaliya

What about using the IR floodlight on your OAK-D Pro? And maybe extend range to 20cm so you have the barcode in focus if you can.

        Thoughts?

Also note that color cameras have IR cut filter, so IR light (from floodlight) will be blocked.

jakaskerl What about using the IR floodlight on your OAK-D Pro?

The IR floodlight gives me more bright view where camera is not able to detect the barcode. I have tried it with different level of IR light. And I can not extend the range to 20cm, the distance is limited to 18cm max.

Thank you for your suggestions jakaskerl and erik.

              Hi bsohaliya
What is the main issue here; is the brightness still to low despite enabling floodlight, or is the image (barcode) too out of focus for software to detect?

              Thanks,
              Jaka

                Hello,

The main issue is that the image view is too out of focus in the range 14-18 cm with mono-camera node. And I have set the IR floodlight to 0 mA, because even zero amount of floodlight gives me enough brightness to see object with barcode in dark environment (where focus is not in oder). Even if I set 10 mA of IR floodlight, the view is more brighter where barcode is hard to see.

Now I got clear that I can not adjust the focus manually with the MonoCamera node, but with the ColorCamera node. I may have to mount LED separately with the Camera to work in dark environment.

                Thank you!!
