Hi All,

I have my board connected and I see it in device manager, but I cant see it in the camera app or Device Manager (the tool used to flash a bootloader)

I can connect with one of my SOM's that may have been flashed before but I cannot connect to any of our spare SOMs

    Hi chandrian ,
What hardware are you using - could you share a picture? Is it USB or POE? What is displayed when you use Search button on OAK Device Manager? How is the device connected to your computer? Any additional info would be useful.
    Thanks, Erik

erik Hi Erik thanks for the reply. We are using USB. I can connect to a few of the SOMs but not others, so I know the hardware is ok. Is there an initial flashing that needs to be done to see the device?

Correction on the board type. We have the OAK SOM (not D) and we have our own custom breakout board.

chandrian That makes more sense, thank you for elaborating. How do you have boot pins connected? With newer boards (OAK-FFC-4P is one of them) you need to have bootloader flashed on the device so you can connect to it, or force boot pins into a mode (usb recovery). Any kind of schematics printscreen on how you have SOM and boot pins connected would be useful.
        Thanks, Erik

Thanks for the feedback! Do you have documentation on how to set up those boot pins for USB? and if we do that, we can connect and flash a bootloader? Thanks again

            Hi chandrian ,
We do, docs here. I hope this helps. Note that on newer devices (eg SOM above) we just use resistors instead of DIP switch, and then we have bootloader flashed to control the booting (as you can see resistors are set to 0x03, meaning booting from flash).
            Thanks, Erik

Thanks again Erik. Just what I needed. We were able to change the resistor configurating and get a bootloader onto the device. We are going to have many boards. Is there a quicker way to do this?

              Thanks,
              Aaron

                Hi chandrian ,
On our devices we have button for this, so at the factory the button is pressed before it's connected via the USB so the USB bootloader can be flashed. This approach saves quite a lot of time.
                Thanks, Erik

                  erik
Ok thanks again. That was not incorporated in the design. Is it possible to order the SOMs with a bootloader already flashed?

                  • erik replied to this.

                    Hi chandrian,
That currently wouldn't be possible, we would need to redesign our manufacturing process to do so.
                    Thanks, Erik
